Consignment stock
Wine standing at a merchant or a restaurant that belongs to the estate until it is sold.
A common route into the trade — and a standing question for stock: the bottles have left the store, but they have not been sold.
Book them out and you have too little stock and too much turnover. Leave them where they are and you go looking for them in the store. Consignment stock needs a place of its own, or neither the stocktake nor the stock declaration comes out right.
