Leaf wetness duration

How long a film of water lies on the leaf without a break — the single most important measurement for infection risk.

A leaf wetness sensor does not measure a disease. It measures whether there is water on a surface at canopy height: from rain, dew or fog.

What counts is not the momentary value but the duration. A shower that dries off in twenty minutes of midday sun is harmless; six hours of fog at eighteen degrees is not.

That is why a usable model does not count wet hours but wet hours inside the temperature window.
