Official test number (AP number)
The proof that a quality wine has passed the official examination.
Without it no Qualitätswein or Prädikatswein may be placed on the market. It is applied for per lot, with analysis values and a sample; the number goes on the label.
It hangs on a particular quantity from a particular bottling. Bottle more and you need a new one — and for that you have to know which batch is in which bottle.
