Statement of origin

The geographical indication on the label — ordered by the new origin pyramid from growing region through Region and village wine down to Einzellage.

Since the 2021 wine law reform the new origin pyramid applies: growing region → Region → village wine → Einzellage. The narrower the origin, the stricter the conditions, and the statement has to be demonstrable across the whole chain.

The former Großlage is no longer of equal rank on the label — from vintage 2026 its name must carry the prefix Region in the same typeface and size.

In a blend the proportions decide what may still be named. Fail to record the proportions and you cannot justify the origin at the end — and have to fall back on the wider, vaguer statement.
