Yield per hectare

The quantity harvested per hectare — capped by German wine law.

Measured in kilograms of grapes or litres of must per hectare. For quality wine there is a statutory ceiling, set separately for each growing region.

Go over it and the excess may not be marketed as quality wine. That is no formality: it decides what the harvest is worth, and it does so before the wine is finished.

Checking it is pure arithmetic from harvest quantity and area — which is exactly why it should run alongside the harvest entry, not afterwards.
